My name is Grant Worley and I am seeking the office of the Representative for the College of Engineering in the University Park Undergraduate Association. I am currently a second semester Junior and I am majoring in nuclear engineering. I am from Hudson Ohio which is a town about 30 minutes south of Cleveland. I was the Representative for the College of Engineering in the 10th Assembly as well a student member of Faculty Senate. During the 10th Assembly I sat on the Academic Affairs committee where I helped write a resolution to improve Penn State Learning, which is the free on-campus tutoring services. Aside from UPUA I am currently the Vice President of the Penn State History Roundtable and the THON Chair for College Republicans. I am also a member of UPAC.
- Financial Responsibility: UPUA is given a budget every year for them to spend. One of their main goals with that money should be to spend it in the most beneficial way possible. If elected I will only vote on spending measures that I think will have a perceptible student benefit and I will try and cut wasteful spending.
- College Affordability: Tuition is a big topic for students, especially out of state students, as such I would advocate for an across the board tuition freeze not just one for instate students. In addition I would also advocate for a freeze on all student fees as those are just as important as tuition.
- Student Voice: Increasing the student participation within the University, such as the permanent student member of the board of trustees, along with in the community can have many benefits to students. I will try and push for more student positions like this to help ensure that our opinions are taken into account.
