Hello! My name is Katierose Epstein, and I am running for At-Large Representative in the University Park Undergraduate Association (UPUA). I am a sophomore double majoring in Political Science and Women’s Studies within the College of the Liberal Arts. Born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada, I am a proud out-of-state student. This year, I have had the wonderful opportunity to serve the Penn State College Democrats as Treasurer. Last year, I was a member of the organization’s Outreach Committee and Communications Committee. My dedicated involvement to clubs and organizations on campus has provided me with connections to a diverse group of students.
If elected as At-Large Representative, I plan to represent the interests of all students.
- Student Life:
Sexual assault is a serious problem at Penn State, and it is imperative that it is addressed immediately. If elected, I will implement a discussion support group at the Counseling and Psychological Services center (CAPS) for people who have personally been affected by sexual assault. This will be a start to the important conversation that needs to happen on our campus.
- Governmental Affairs:
All Penn State students are affected by the decisions made within the State College Borough Council, whether we are aware of it or not. As students, we need to hold our local elected officials accountable to representing all of their constituents. If elected, I plan on strengthening our communication with the Borough. This will ensure the interests of students are being heard and accounted for.
Many students are in the HUB, our student union, for a significant amount of time every day. Sadly, most of the dining options in the HUB are unavailable outside of lunch hours. If elected, I will work to ensure all dining options in the HUB are open for both lunch and dinner.
