My name is Tom Beeby and I am a freshman at Penn State. I am currently double majoring in Political Science and in Economics in the College of Liberal Arts. I am originally from Cape May, New Jersey — one of the most beautiful beach towns on the east coast, and a huge tourist attraction. This year, I have served on a THON Rules & Regulations Committee, and am involved with Penn State College Republicans as a general member. I currently serve on UPUA’s Freshman Council, sitting on both the Academic Affairs and Governmental Affairs Committee. In the 12th Assembly, I look forward to serving you as an At-Large Representative, if given the opportunity.
For the Glory,
- Propose General Education courses geared towards Civic Engagement. Ideally, these courses would give students a better understanding of state and local government, and would focus on how to better advocate to their elected officials for what they perceive to be best.
- Local “Meet the Candidates” Session with Borough Candidates. It is often said that the elected officials of the Borough do not fairly represent students. To combat this poor representation, and mend relationships with these elected officials, a “Meet the Candidates” Session would be great to make students more informed and candidates more accountable.
- Veteran’s Appreciation Day Event. Being that we have a large student-veteran population, and massive ROTC program, it is essential we do something to formally show our appreciation for those that have served to protect our rights.
