Hi! My name is name Zach Robinson, and I am a Sophomore here at University Park. Born and raised in Pittsburgh, I am a huge Pittsburgh and PSU sports fan, and I love grabbing a pastrami sandwich at P Mans for the Stiller or Pens game. During my nearly 2 year stay at Penn State, I have served as an At Large Rep for the UPUA and served on the Freshmen Council last year. I am also involved with the THON org Atlas (look for the pink fuzzy hats), I work at the Commons Desk as a student manager, and I plan on becoming an RA this coming fall semester. I hope to serve the Penn State undergraduate student body once more if reelected for the 12th Assembly, and I cannot wait to work on more important Gov Affairs legislation that benefits ALL Penn State students!
- Better Student-Borough Relations-
Student-Borough relations are becoming increasingly more important to maintain and improve in the coming years. With new residential and commercial spaces opening downtown, new borough initiatives focused on student housing, and with a potential Penn State student or faculty member being elected to the Borough Council, the UPUA must continue working towards a stronger bond. I will personally continue working with our Governmental Affairs committee and start focusing more of my attention and energy towards bettering our relations with the Borough.
- Better Relations and Communication with PSU Athletics-
As evident by the amount of students who regularly attend Penn State sporting events and by the number who wish to travel to support our teams at away sites, our relations and communications with Penn State Athletics must be improved. By improving our relations with Penn State Athletics, we can better organize future trips to away games for all sports, as well as provide an excellent game day atmosphere for the student body. In addition to transport and game day experiences, I hope to jointly evaluate the current resell market for student tickets with Penn State Athletics.
- Work Towards a More Efficient Student Government-
The UPUA is YOUR student government. In order for the UPUA to continually serve students to the best of its ability, I believe that internal and external changes could and should be made in order to make us a more efficient organization. For example, changing the way that students are able to interact with the Assembly and finding a faster way to pass our many pieces of legislation would allow the UPUA to operate in a much more optimal way, allowing us to better serve the undergraduate student body. Fortunately, the 11th Assembly is currently in the early stages of examining ways to improve the UPUA, and so I would like to continue that work into the 12th Assembly.
