Zion Sykes

Candidate Biography
Hello everyone, my name is Zion Sykes, and I am excited to announce my candidacy to be an At-Large representative in the 19th assembly. Coming with a strong dedication to serving the student body and previous experience within the organization, I hope to continue advocating for the wants and needs of University Park students and address the issues that impact you.

Drawing on my experience as the student representative to the Borough of State College’s City Council, UPUA appointee to the University Park Student Fee Board, and Chair of the Committee on Governmental and Community Relations, I bring with me an array of useful knowledge, connections, and experience. I am committed to ensuring that we make good use of our resources and address the issues that matter the most to students.

I am passionate about introducing new programming and legislation based on things that YOU want to see! Whether that be, student poverty, voter turnout (especially as we head into an election year), environmental sustainability and ensuring that we are taking steps to leave the world better than we found it, or making the UPUA a more inclusive and welcoming environment for all.

Don’t forget to mark your calendars for March 27th, and to tell your friends to vote in this UPUA election! Together, we can continue to bring about the change needed on this campus and ensure a brighter future for the glory of Old State.
