McKenna Schrenk

I am excited to announce my candidacy for Smeal Student Senator in the Penn State University Faculty Senate. With a deep commitment to student advocacy, I aim to represent Smeal students on key academic issues.

My extensive Smeal involvement has prepared me for this role. I previously served as President of the Supply Chain Management Association and am currently a tenured member of the Nittany Lion Consulting Group and a brother of Alpha Kappa Psi Professional Business Fraternity. As a Smeal Student Mentor and MIS 250 Teaching Assistant, I have worked closely with students and faculty to enhance academic success.

This past year, I had the honor of serving as the UPUA Smeal Academic Representative and a Smeal Student Senator, where I also chaired the Student Caucus. These experiences have strengthened my ability to advocate effectively for student needs. If elected, I will continue prioritizing discussions surrounding the 19-credit surcharge, which financially burdens students seeking to maximize their education. Additionally, I will continue speaking on open educational resources, advocating for their accessibility and evaluating their effective incorporation into classrooms to reduce financial barriers for students. Lastly, I will push for greater transparency in academic decisions affecting Smeal students.

With my leadership experience and dedication to academic advocacy, I am committed to making a meaningful impact for Smeal students in the Faculty Senate. I ask for your support and your vote to ensure our voices are heard.
