Anthony Khuc

Hey everyone!

I am Anthony Khuc, and I hope to earn your support to represent the Eberly College of Science (ECOS) as your Academic Representative and Student Senator. I’m originally from York, PA, and currently a first-year studying Mathematics with a minor in Information Sciences and Technology for Mathematics.

Over the past year, I’ve had the incredible opportunity to serve the ECOS in the UPUA as an Academic Representative, and I hope to continue representing your voices in the 20th assembly.

During my tenure in the 19th assembly, I focused on academic policy reform and campus transportation improvements. I collaborated extensively on a resolution to support the removal of Math 141 (Calculus II) from the Pre-Medicine major following its removal from the Biology major. I worked closely on an initiative to improve the quality and quantity of bike racks in high-traffic areas around campus. Additionally, I’ve spearheaded multiple accessibility initiatives, including efforts to remove the surcharge on ADA parking permits and improve ADA automatic door quality.

In the next assembly, I hope to improve the bicycle and scooter experience on campus with better infrastructure and education. I look towards finding methods for students to better communicate with the Office of the Physical Plant to allow the campus to be designed around student needs.

In regards to academic affairs, I want to focus on updating academic advising to ensure students are given the proper guidance to allow them to study what they want and complete their degree in a timely manner. Additionally, I hope to make on-campus research opportunities more accessible by giving students more information about how to get involved.

Lastly, with my involvement in the Millennium Scholars Program, I’ve been fortunate to have a strong relationship with the Deans of the ECOS, regularly chatting about the issues within the college, and seeing how the UPUA can most effectively help the ECOS community.

Beyond my involvement in the UPUA, I celebrate my Vietnamese heritage with the Vietnamese Student Association, helping to put on our Tet (Lunar New Year) celebration. I also train Tang Soo Do martial arts regularly with the Penn State Martial Group!

The Eberly College of Science plays a vital role in shaping people’s Penn State experience, and with your support, it can continue to grow and become a great home for students for many years to come. If you have any questions or are interested, feel free to reach out–I’d love to chat!
