Madar Samakab

Hi! I hope you are having a great day! My name is Madar Samakab. I am from Leesburg, Virginia, and I am running to be one of your At-Large representatives for the UPUA’s 20th Assembly! I am a sophomore International Relations and History major in the College of Liberal Arts. This past year, I have served in the UPUA’s 19th Assembly as the Programming Director of Campus Operations and an At-Large Representative during the second half. I have worked on numerous projects during this time, such as a dietary restrictions survey to improve campus dining, supplying Narcan to Fraternities and sororities and training, and offering free coffee during finals week. Some other organizations I am involved with around campus are The Penn State Thespian Society, THON Rules and Regulations, No Refund Theatre, and serving as President of the Pollock Halls Residence Association.

I am running on two main platforms: enhancing the student experience at Penn State and improving Campus Infrastructure. There are several goals I intend to accomplish if elected as one of your representatives, including the following:

-Increasing CAPS resources, availability, and mental health awareness
-Making campus dining safer and more enjoyable for those with dietary restrictions
-Increasing the number of and upkeep of the existing charging stations around campus
-Advocating for an asynchronous school day the Monday after THON
-Making compost bins more available
-Supporting and bringing attention to the performing arts on campus
-Working towards greater collaboration between student organizations
-Working to make CATA buses less crowded and more easily accessible

Thank you so much for taking the time to read about me and my campaign! I hope to work for YOU to improve our time here at Penn State, our home, and advocate for your needs! If you have any questions or want to see any changes on campus, please reach out to me at mds6489@psu.edu. I would absolutely love to hear from you! Thank you, and I hope to have your support!
