Avery Landis

Hello, everyone. My name is Avery Landis, and I am looking forward to running as an At-Large Representative for UPUA’s 20th Assembly. I believe that the best kind of leadership starts with listening, not just to respond, but to understand. I am running to make sure every student has a voice in the conversation. I have always been interested in working with people, in making community, in fairness, and in the ministry of solving everyday life together. I am not here with all the answers but with open ears, a strong work ethic, and a deep commitment to making campus a place better for all students.
I am committed to working towards:
• More opportunities for collaboration, connection, and support for student organizations.
• More accessibility features on campus and in digital spaces for students with disabilities.
• Improving mental health services by increasing the availability of resources and decreasing the prejudice towards seeking them.
• Expansion of textbook affordability programs or free textbook databases.
• Improved integration of tutoring/mentoring programs into the student’s schedule.
• Longer pre- and post-break, and earlier CATA routes.
I also want to make room for the interests that make Penn State feel at home, whether it is through supporting the arts, supporting cultural organizations, or supporting those who are rarely seen in campus leadership.
First and foremost, I want to be someone you can turn to if you have an idea or a worry, or if you just want to talk. This is the kind of representative I promise to be: present, easily accessible, and willing to put in the effort with you.
It would be an honor to serve you in this next Assembly and I am excited to fight for the causes that are most important to you. Thank you for your support!
