Hello, fellow Nittany Lions! I’m Bhavik Katarmal, a junior in the College of Engineering, majoring in Industrial Engineering with a minor in Six Sigma. As an international student who has experienced diverse educational systems, I bring a unique perspective that shapes my understanding of the challenges and opportunities here at Penn State.
My journey at Penn State has been marked by active involvement in various leadership roles that have allowed me to connect deeply with our community. Serving as the Outreach Head for the Public Speaking Club and a mentor in the Engineering Leadership Academy, I’ve developed a strong foundation in communication and mentorship. These experiences have given me insight into the student body’s needs, enhancing my ability to advocate effectively on their behalf.
I am also deeply committed to sustainability and renewable energy, participating actively in Penn State’s Wind Energy Club. This passion for environmental issues aligns well with my love for the outdoors, as I spend much of my leisure time hiking, rock climbing, and camping in the beautiful landscapes of Pennsylvania.
What I believe in is simple: every student’s voice deserves to be heard and acted upon. I am driven to ensure that our engineering community is not only represented but is also at the forefront of shaping campus policy and improving student life.
As a prospective member of the UPUA, I want to leverage my experiences and the relationships I’ve built with faculty and students to:
– Enhance academic and professional support services for engineering students, ensuring they have access to resources that support both their academic and career pursuits.
– Foster an inclusive environment for international students, facilitating smoother transitions and better integration into the Penn State community.
– Promote interdisciplinary collaboration, organizing events and initiatives that bring together diverse fields and foster a comprehensive educational experience.
I am eager to use my role in the UPUA to make a tangible difference, ensuring that the engineering community’s dynamic needs and aspirations are addressed. Together, we can make Penn State not just a place to learn, but a place where we all thrive and feel valued.
