I’m very excited to be announcing my candidacy for the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences UPUA Representative and Faculty Senate Student Representative. It has been an absolute pleasure this past year getting to serve in these roles and I am delighted at the opportunity to continue to serve the undergraduate students of the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences for the 20th assembly.
I am a second year studying Energy Engineering and I have a great passion for sustainability and advocacy. I am so grateful to be a part of the EMS community and to get to share with the rest of the university how exemplary our college is through our sustainability initiatives, successful student engagement (examples being TEAMS, Student Council, EMS benefiting THON, and more!), and student support with the Ryan Family Student Center. But what truly makes our college so incredible are all of the wonderful people that are in it! Getting to see everyone in the college come together at our Annual EMS Gala is truly moving and the reason I continue to be engaged as a Gala Chairperson in the Student Council.
Over this past year I have had the honor of getting to work on many initiatives in support of sustainability and the college. Some of these were the Environmental Justice Night Panel, World Sustainability Day Tabling, securing funding for the Annual EMS Gala, and getting to help support the new (and soon to be implemented) Sustainability Attribute for classes on LionPATH.
My goal for these positions in the 20th assembly are to be accessible, transparent, and effective. My entire role is to serve the undergraduate students in the college of Earth and Mineral Sciences through advocacy in our student government and faculty senate. The best way to do that is to ensure I’m accessible to fellow students to listen to their challenges, wants, and ideas; to provide transparency so fellow students are able to accurately know what is being worked on in the UPUA and Faculty Senate; and to be effective with communication and execution of initiatives.
If you have any questions, ideas, or anything please do not hesitate to reach out to me! My email is kxh5715@psu.edu and I’m physically present at most Student Council meetings. I greatly enjoy getting to chat with others and meet new people.
Thank you so much for taking the time to look at my platform! Please go vote in the UPUA elections on April 2nd!
