Dara Sedaka

My name is Dara Sedaka, and I am running for re-election to serve you in the 20th UPUA Assembly. I am currently a first year student majoring in Pre Veterinary sciences, and I have been honored to serve as your First-Year Representative in the 19th Assembly. I believe that my experience in UPUA, along with my active involvement in campus organizations, has given me a strong foundation to continue advocating for the needs and interests of our student body.

During my time in the 19th Assembly, I had the opportunity to work closely with my fellow representatives and the executive board to contribute to the UPUA’s efforts in improving student life on campus. I have been a passionate voice for first-year students, ensuring that their concerns are heard and addressed, and I am eager to continue this work in the next assembly.

In addition to my role in UPUA, I am also actively involved in several campus organizations, including Pre-Vet and the One Health Club. As a member of Pre-Vet, I have helped organize events aimed at promoting awareness about veterinary medicine and animal care, while also fostering a sense of community for students interested in this field. Through the One Health Club, I have worked to promote the interconnectedness of human, animal, and environmental health, highlighting how these areas intersect and impact student well-being.

My platform is focused on three key priorities:

Enhancing Mental Health Resources: As a member of Pre-Vet, I am committed to continuing the push for better access to mental health services on campus. We need more accessible resources, better outreach, and programs that reduce the stigma around seeking help. I will work to ensure that mental health is prioritized in our student life initiatives.

Building Stronger Connections Across Campus: Penn State is a large and diverse campus, and I believe we can foster a stronger sense of community by supporting student organizations and clubs that encourage inclusivity and cross-cultural engagement. As a member of UPUA, I will advocate for programs and events that bring students together and promote unity.

Sustainability and Health Initiatives: With my involvement in the One Health Club, I aim to advocate for sustainability efforts that promote the health of our campus environment. Whether it’s through increasing green spaces, reducing waste, or promoting sustainable practices, I believe we can make a tangible difference in ensuring a healthier, more sustainable campus.

I am eager to continue serving you and to advocate for the needs of every student at Penn State. Thank you for your support, and I would be honored to earn your vote for the 20th UPUA Assembly.
