Dawson Glogau

Hi there! My name is Dawson Glogau, and I am a second-year student majoring in Political Science and History with a minor in Child Maltreatment and Advocacy Studies (CMAS). I currently serve as an At-Large Representative in the UPUA, working in the Academic Affairs, Student Life, and Campus Operations Committees. Additionally, I am involved in the Lion Caucus, advocating for fair funding for Penn Staters. I am very excited to be running for an At-Large Representative seat in the 20th Assembly!

During my recent term as a Representative in the 19th Assembly, I worked on and initiated passion projects to help Penn State students get the most out of their tuition. This included:

✅ Worked with the Libraries to develop plans to open Pattee and Paterno for 24 hours. Penn Staters deserve a library that is open throughout the night, and it was an honor to lead the efforts on such crucial legislation.

✅ Head-sponsored ‘Parent Kit’ legislation, that provided parenting students with toys and various activities for their children while they utilize Libraries.

✅ Worked on accessibility initiatives such as head sponsoring advertisements for student mental health resources, and appealing to the University for more ADA compliance in de-icing the sidewalks.

If elected to another term as a Representative, I would continue to focus on expanding student accessibility on campus, most importantly for low-income students. As Penn State announces future campus closures, it becomes critical to make sure University Park (which remains higher in the cost of attendance) is equipped to expand the resources it currently offers. This includes:

➡️ Collaborating with offices at Penn State to advocate and work on initiatives that serve undergraduate parenting students with childcare concerns.

➡️ Working with the Penn State Office of Physical Plant (OPP) to make campus more accessible and compliant with ADA guidelines.

➡️ Advocating for and supporting students with food insecurity on campus through sponsoring and working on new, bold projects.

➡️ Working with other Representatives to finally end the inequitable 19-credit surcharge, that heavily burdens financial stability of students. University Park is already expensive enough, students should not have to face unnecessary surcharges in their academic journeys.

It would be a massive honor to receive your vote and serve the undergraduate student body of Penn State University Park as an At-Large Representative. This last year has been incredible with this organization, and I only see bigger and brighter things with the 21st Assembly!
