Grace Rothenberg

Hi everyone! My name is Grace Rothenberg, and I am a sophomore majoring in Political Science with a strong interest in law, government, and public policy. I am excited to be running for an At-Large position in the UPUA!

This past year, I was honored to be elected as an At-Large Representative in the 19th Assembly of the UPUA, where I also served as the Vice Chair of the Student Life Committee. In this role, I spearheaded Mental Health and Wellness Week, a crucial initiative aimed at promoting student well-being and destigmatizing mental health struggles on campus. Additionally, I have written and sponsored numerous pieces of legislation, including my Funding for Fall 2024 Light Up The Night bill which supports a recurring event put on by the UPUA to enhance student safety and commit to safer, more sustainable transportation on campus.

Prior to the 19th Assembly, I was appointed to the position of First Year Council Representative my freshman year, in the 18th Assembly. I had the opportunity to learn from my peers how our student government operates, and was able to conduct research and write pieces of legislation. As a voting member, I sponsored legislation which I authored and presented to the Assembly. This provided me with the chance to represent the voice of the First Year Council on important issues affecting the students body. I sat on both the Campus Operations and Student Life committees and head-sponsored bills throughout the Assembly.

Beyond student government, I am an avid music enthusiast. I have played the piano for 13 years, and enjoy attending concerts and listening to new music and artists. I also enjoy yoga and fitness, and spending time outside around campus. I’m a huge animal lover, and look for opportunities to volunteer with animal rescues. Since arriving at Penn State, I am grateful to have found so many opportunities to be involved, meet new people, and embrace new experiences!

If elected, I will continue advocating for initiatives that enhance student life and well-being. One of my primary areas of focus will be initiatives that promote sustainable practices. I’ve always been interested in protecting the environment and I know there are many opportunities for Penn State to enhance its sustainability efforts. With a campus as large as ours, it is not easy to limit our carbon footprint while providing the services needed for the student body. I know, however, that we can all do better! I look forward to finding creative solutions that balance efficiencies with sustainable practices.

With my experience, dedication, and passion for advocacy, I am excited about the opportunity to continue making a meaningful impact at Penn State!
