RASHA’S BIO:
Hello! My name is Rasha Elwakil and I am a junior studying Geography with a minor in History. I am a New Yorker, born and raised. I have been involved with UPUA throughout my entire Penn State experience, starting with the first-year council, then becoming Chair of Justice and Equity my sophomore year, and this year getting the amazing opportunity to serve as the Vice President! Outside of UPUA, I am involved with Lion Ambassadors, the Panhellenic Executive Council, Student Philanthropy Network, Presidential Leadership Academy, Trilogy, VALLEY magazine, and the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences.
I am running for President of the University Park Undergraduate Association to continue driving the meaningful change I’ve been working toward throughout my Penn State journey. While I love Penn State, I believe there is always room for growth. As a proud first-generation Penn Stater, I want to represent the student body and advocate for initiatives in DEI, sustainability, and educational outreach. Penn State has given me incredible opportunities, and I am eager to give back by serving and empowering my fellow students and community!
Me and Fletcher Port who is running on my executive ticket are excited to campaign on four pillars, affordability & financial accessibility, infrastructure & sustainability, student well-being & equitable support systems, government relations & administrative transparency. Keep a lookout for our website and Instagram to learn more about these pillars!
FLETCHER’S BIO:
Hi Penn State! My name is Fletcher Port and I am a Junior studying Mechanical Engineering. I was born in Philadelphia and have lived in Annapolis, Maryland the last several years. UPUA has been an incredible continuation of my lifelong commitment to student advocacy. My Freshman year I was an at-large representative and my Sophomore the Chair of Campus Operations where we produced dozens of initiatives that improved campus infrastructure. This year I had the great honor of serving as the Speaker of the Assembly. I am involved in Lion Ambassadors, THON, and the College of Engineering.
I am running for Vice President of the UPUA because I know our Penn State education is not just an education, but an experience. One where Penn State students deserve equitable opportunities to thrive. While we have thousands of incredible parts of Penn State, to truly love it is to appreciate where we can grow it more! In understanding that, I would love to work to provide the best experience possible for future Penn State generations.
