Litzy Sandoval

Candidate Biography
Hello Penn State,

My name is Litzy Sandoval, a second-year studying Middle-Level Education, Mathematics, and I am running to be one of your 20 representatives in the 19th Assembly!

My UPUA journey has begun since I first stepped foot on campus. I came to University Park with an ambition to participate and be an active voice in our student community, leading me to apply for the First-Year Council of the 17th Assembly. I was not only a member of the First-Year Council but I had the honor of being 1 of the 2 First-Year Council Representatives that year. The experience taught me so much and grew my love for the organization, leading me to run in the 18th Assembly as the College of Education Representative. Alongside this role, I also became the Vice Chair of Justice & Equity, where I got to assist and work on projects I was really passionate about. Now, I want to continue giving back to our Old State by running in the 19th!

If elected, I promise to continue with my initial focus of improving the DEIB efforts at University Park. As a member of Bunton-Waller Fellows Program and an active individual in the POC community, I am made consistently aware of social & structural issues that persist on our campus. Through my work in UPUA, I am hoping to eliminate these problems and make life easier on our students. I also am highly committed to seeking out student input on all of the initiatives that go through UPUA. I firmly believe transparency and communication are priority in having a successful student government, which is what I intend to maintain. I am elected to represent YOU as a student and you deserve to have a say in the legislation that gets passed. Finally, I would like to advocate and focus on the health and wellness of all of our students. Many of our students need support but are overwhelmed and unsure how to approach it at this campus, especially as a first year. I have been in that position before and I want to make it as easy as possible for students to be able to utilize UP’s resources.

The 19th Assembly has so much potential and I am hoping you will vote for me on March 27th and allow me to be a part of what will be an amazing Assembly.

For the Glory!
