Candidate Biography
I am running to represent all undergraduates in the College of Communications because you deserve a delegate who values accountability and transparency. As a Student Senator, I will advocate for the needs of student creators – including journalists, filmmakers, and on-air hosts. I will strive to connect our college and protect the opportunities we have.
I’m a second year Film Production and English major myself involved in the Schreyer Honors College, the Presidential Leadership Academy, and the Public Humanities Fellowship. In my four semesters on the College of Communications Student Council, I have helped organized networking events like Donuts with Dean Hardin and a RSO Leadership Cabinet. As the professionalism chair, I am actively working to unite Comm students across different majors. As a Bellisario Peer Mentor, I am part of a pilot program to mentor incoming students and guide them through the difficulties of freshman year.
My connections to various media outlets in the college allow me stay plugged in to news around campus and be a voice for student journalists. I am currently in my fifth semester with The Daily Collegian — as a news and multimedia reporter — and in my first semester with CommAgency — as a videographer and editor. Outside of class, I have worked on many student films as a production assistant, gaffer, assistant director, and cinematographer. Additionally, I serve as the media and communications chair for the Student Sustainability Advisory Council to help bring environmental awareness to the forefront of student discussion. My involvement makes me the ideal candidate to represent this college and speak up for the needs of all students.
