Alicia Cook

Candidate Biography
Hi, y’all! My name is Alicia Cook and I’m a proud Texan from Houston currently studying at the renowned Smeal College of Business here at Penn State. I am so excited to announce that I will be running for the UPUA Academic Representative position for the Smeal College of Business.

My journey in leadership began early as a member of the UPUA First Year Council. Through this experience, I not only gained practical skills in teamwork, communication, and problem-solving but also developed a deep appreciation for the power of collaboration and collective action. My time on the First Year Council not only fueled my passion for leadership but also instilled in me a strong sense of responsibility to contribute positively to the Penn State community. I’m grateful for the opportunity to have been part of such a transformative experience early in my academic journey.”

In addition to my involvement in student government, I’m honored to be a member of the prestigious Sapphire Leadership Academic Program. This program has provided me with unparalleled opportunities for personal and professional growth, challenging me to push beyond my comfort zone and strive for excellence in all aspects of my academic and extracurricular pursuits. Through seminars, workshops, and mentorship, I’ve cultivated a strong foundation in leadership theory and practice, equipping me with the tools and confidence to lead effectively in any setting.

Most importantly, my involvement in student government has allowed me to have a tangible impact on campus policies and initiatives that shape the university experience for all students. By actively participating in decision-making processes, I can influence positive changes that enhance the overall quality of education and student life at our university. Overall, I hope to bring awareness to our student government that accurately represents the interests of our business school students, fosters collaboration across disciplines, develops leadership skills, and makes a meaningful impact on campus.

As I continue to navigate my collegiate journey, I remain committed to fostering positive change and leaving a lasting legacy of service and leadership. With a passion for making a positive impact and a commitment to excellence, I’m dedicated to both my studies and my involvement in campus life. I look forward to continuing to learn, lead, and contribute to my community here at Penn State.

As election day approaches, make sure to participate and please vote on March 27! I look forward to representing the Smeal College of Business!
