Cecilia Gonzalez

Candidate Biography
Hi! My name is Cecilia Gonzalez and I am running to be your At-Large representative! I was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico and raised in South Florida. Growing up I had always been involved in group/team work activities. I was involved in my high schools student government all four years and was part of a competitive dance team for ten years.

I have taken a lot away from my experiences growing up and I hope to incorporate them into this role. Once I entered Penn State, last semester, I joined the UPUA First Year Council. Here I became heavily involved in teamwork and bonding activities where I have built friendships and skills that will last forever. In UPUA I was heavily involved in The Department of Public Relations and enjoy watching how our government works on a day to day basis.

I have future goals for UPUA and Penn State as a whole. I hope to take my diversity and ideas and be able to work on making Penn State more diverse and presenting opportunities to groups of people that haven’t heard of their options in this amazing university. I also want to work on accessibility for those with disabilities. This issue is dear to my heart as a family member of my own has autism and epilepsy. I want to make Penn State a campus where my own sister can feel comfortable and happy walking around in. I also hope to work on safety and advocating for victims of assault and harassment. I believe no student should feel unsafe or unheard on this campus. I want to be your advocate, your voice, and your At-Large Representative.
