Hi! My name is Emily Milton and I am a freshman from Alexandria, Virginia running for At-Large Representative in the University Park Undergraduate Association (UPUA). I am a current member of the First Year Council, first-year representative on the 18th Assembly Strategic Planning Board, and served as first-year THON chair for UPUA Benefitting THON. I’ve worked this year on the Campus Operations committee and have been able to work on bills like Coffee for Finals and “Know Your Campus Operations Resources.”
For the 19th Assembly, I would want to make sure students were accurately represented and truly had their voices heard. I want students to be able to have hard conversations in a safe space and learn from their peers. My experience with leadership groups, legislation, and committee work helps me be able to do the most good for the most students.
I enjoy going to concerts, spending time with friends and my little brother, and exploring campus. I am also a new member of the Delta Phi Epsilon sorority. I did competitive dance for over 10 years of my life, and am often volunteering within my community at home and here at Penn State.
In high school, I served two terms as Student Representative to the Alexandria Public Schools School Board, was a student newspaper editor, and worked on many committees including the Student-Law Enforcement Partnership Advisory Group, The Grading Policy Revisions Committee, and the Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council, to name a few. I had internships with the Vice Mayor of Alexandria and the Bureau of Global Talent Management of the U.S. Department of State, I was also the youngest person in Virginia and first youth member to sit on the Community Services Advisory Board.
My passion has always been students getting involved in spaces that affect them the most, so I look forward to hopefully getting to be one of the people working for you and the betterment of our community!
