Tori Munn

Candidate Biography
Hello everyone!

My name is Tori Munn and I am a first year from Chantilly, Virginia. While Virginia will always be home, I have had the opportunity to call England, Australia, and Nebraska my temporary homes. My diverse background leads me into majoring in International Politics and minoring in Korean.

I am excited to announce my candidacy for the position of At-Large Representative! I aim to shape the student government by implementing fresh ideas and tackling our current issues. Strong leadership is the key to improvement and transformation.

My experience as an Air Force Cadet has well prepared me for this role by developing my leadership and ability to persist in the face of challenge. Acting as the first Wing Adjutant for Detachment 720, I was able to represent my fellow first-year cadets and learn about the administrative duties required to run an organization. I helped start a cadet day in the life channel, improve communication and transparency between mentors and students, and offered input for more exciting physical training and mental health activities. I am prepared to advocate for your ideas and to push until our goals have been met.

During my time at Penn State, I have been involved with Penn State’s Intensive English Communcation Program (IECP) where I had the exciting opportunity to learn about students from around the world and welcome them into our community. This experience broadened my view of different cultures, furthering my understanding of our diverse student body. Additionally, I am a member of Penn State’s Club Swim, a swim instructor, and am actively engaged in THON.

As student senator, I aim to carry out a handful of new projects that will help improve student life, education, and safety.

→ Improve safety on streets by implementing bike lanes around campus and increasing awareness of vehicle laws.
→ Increase meal options to accommodate people with dietary restrictions and improve menu accuracy.
→ Create additional services for transfer students to increase inclusion.
→ Get more clubs involved with UPUA activities.

These are just a few of the ideas I hope to turn into reality. Thank you for taking the time to get to know me. I look forward to the opportunity of making your voices heard and strengthening our community!
